down the rabbit hole

i don't live in the country by any means.  i'm in a suburb about 20 miles from Downtown Chicago. the Metra train station is less than a 5 minute walk from my house.

but....within an hour of being home from NYC yesterday, you know having not seen any grass, all that traffic, noise, hussle, trash.  oh, the trash!  and the hot dog and pretzel selling for 5 days. i sure felt like my front yard was in the country especially when i walked over to a big tuft of grass, smack in the middle of the front yard and realized as i lifted it up that it was a hole in the yard....

....as i peered down the little hole there were, peacefully sleeping, at least 4 baby bunnies.

but what was that Mom thinking? she could have made a lovely home in an area of my newly developed garden, or near a tree?  or at least under the Adirondack furniture which was just a few feet away and is now moved overtop of their little "nest".

i just wanted to scoop them all up, put them into my great big, new, designer knock-off bag that i bought from a street vendor and carry them around with me!

they're sweet as can be.

3 - WoW! What a find...in your own front yard, no less. Glad you had a good time in NYC. I was hoping to go see my brother there in October so I could also go to Rhinebeck and see the fall colors, but with all the travelling going on around here, I don't think it's going to happen. :( (Comment this)
