you light-up my life

the blue of the caribbean sea

 the crystal clear sky

must have still been right there in the active, colorful part of my brain when i stood in front of all those yarn choices looking for a hue for my next project. i’ve just finished the Hooded Capelet from Teva Durham’s Loop-d-Loop book knit in a beautiful verigated yarn called Blue Surf.  i see every shade of blue when i look at it. it was the quickest knit (i think i had it done in about two days on jumbo #19 needles with the yarn tripled!!!) and it’s a fun fashion must have for these spring cool evenings. in fact i wore it out thursday night.

and what do you do with a guy who come home and hands you a little package of Knit Lites?!?!

if not in the know…they are lighted knitting needles!! yep, “you can knit anywhere! even in the dark”. says it right on the package. they run on batteries.

said he was in the craft store, saw them and thought i would like a set. told me they had every size, didn’t know what to get so figured he go with something right down the middle. now i don’t knit in bed, i know some people do but he does watch me surrender my knitting to darkness on road trips. oh and now i WILL be tempted to bring my knitting to the movies!

he pick up #8’s. how smart is that? #8’s are probably just what i would have picked!

what a guy!

hello sunshine

i just can’t seem to shake this yellow thing…..

it’s all yellows and sunshine around here and i’m not talking weather.

it’s not just the yarn anymore….oh, there’s all-sorts of yellow on the needles: i’m making that saffron, frilly scarf and there’s a little baby something in a few shades of yellows and khakis, and i’m making Teva Durham’s Ballet T-shirt in sunset (it’s going to be more like a fitted vest).

but this yellow is spilling over into everything.

could it be because hubby has a little remodeling going on in his office and there’s a sunny paint shade going up in there?

walking through the grocery store the other day i spotted the most beautiful saffron-flowered Kleenex Expressions box. oh yeah!! you know those new oval shaped ones! had to have it. i’ve always been a bit of a Kleenex aficionado. just ask my anyone in my family, i’m always looking for just the “right” tissue box.

then at Borders last week while looking for a few new reads i came across this title: The Yellow House. it’s a story of VanGogh and Gauguin and the time that they live and painted together in the South of France living in the famous Yellow House.

i put it in my pile.

i went to get a pedicure today and there was a mom and a daughter there together doing the same. the little girl was about 13, they must have been on a “girls-day-out”. that thirteen year old was getting daisies painted on her big-toes. how cute and sunny. it made me think of YELLOW. and if i was 13….i would have had what she was having!!!!

i’m hitting the high seas tomorrow in search of a little sunshine myself. see you in a few days.  in the meantime, look for some yellow to fit into your life.

paris in the springtime

in the mood for a little trip?

how about Paris? i’ve hear that there’s nothing like Paris in the Springtime. i’ve never been, it’s on my “some-day” list.

this American living in Paris with her French hubby, who’s blog i frequent is giving us a little treat this year. www.willows95988.typepad.com  she’s even taking requests.

if you decide to go here’s what i suggest you get ready first: a yummy latte’ or maybe a cup of tea, a bite of good chocolate and be aware that tomorrow you will probably want to stop by your local flower shop on the way home from work. be sure to set aside some time. don’t rush this one, there’s so much to see. scroll thru about a few weeks worth of the wonderful sites and meet some of the interesting people she introduces you to.

it’s really worth the trip.

and since you’ve made that long trip why not visit this french mum and her sweet girls.

sometimes a little arm-chair traveling can be so inspiring!
