gardening

what a great weekend.

first i was able to slowly wake up and take my time on saturday morning.  i love that about saturday mornings!

then hubby and went to the nursery and got all the plants, grass seed, etc for working in the yard.

then we played extreme yard makeover for the rest of the day.  the yard looks the best it has in years.  we moved the mailbox, moved flagstone, planted and planted more….

i really need to figure out the posting of pixs here so i can share that.

i even got in some cleaning, relaxing, knitting, dvd rental, and a cocktail or two!

doesn’t get much better than this.

friday!!!

fridays.  thank god that we get one every week!

it is actually very early saturday morning, but still counts as friday to me.

went out for dinner with hubby after work, took a NAP?, he’s still sleeping, as i think he will till morning, and i got up about 11:00.  but that’s the great thing about friday’s.  it’s okay!

plans for this weekend:  buy flowers for planter boxes, plant all four window boxes, hair appointment for coloring, watch the two dvd’s that i rented. (shall we dance and bridget jones II), some knitting on calmer bolero, cook some yummy food, take an afternoon nap, recharge for next week.

i think i’ve listened to enough late night tv.  i’m heading back to bed for about 6 more hours.

happy weekend!

working art

the count down for school to be out is officially on!!  12 regular school days with my 6th and 7th graders.  and 6 school days until my 8th graders graduate.

i must say that i am truly ready.  when you live your life by the school calendar the year always goes by quickly.  but i must say this has been a difficult year for me.

i’m ready and thankful for my much needed break.

i belong to an artist’s group at my church and tonight is one of the first meetings.  i should say that a similar group used to meet, but we have reorganized and are starting a-new.

i’m looking forward to this tonight.  besides my knitting, i’ve always been “artsy”.  one of the proposses of this group is to “show” something that you are working on or have finished each month.  this is good motivation to keep you “working”.

about a month ago i went to an informal pastels class at the art museum in my daughter’s town.  it was fun and a new experience for me.  we each worked on the “2 inch picture frame” concept and i will share my work from that experience tonight.

plus, i think i will wear a sweater that i knit, that i am pretty proud of.

i “toy” with the thought of finishing my master’s degree in art rather that education.  that may be a great way to find a more peaceful way to work.

progress

in knitting news….

i’ve been working on two, soft, beautiful, chenille, flower petal washcloths for a friend’s  birthday gift.  can you tell by the description that i think they are great?  i’m knitting one in lime green and the other in a baby pink.  then i will go to the gift shop and find some really great soaps to put with them.

hope this friend of mine enjoys them as much as i have enjoyed knitting them.

in other knitting new…

i’m working a little at a time on a throw for the living room.  this is not a project that i am rushing on..i would just like to have it done this fall as the weather changes and i will have the need to snuggle in, on the couch.  it is the entrelac large scarf pattern from the Scarf Style book. this is the first time that i have worked this type of pattern.  after starting over three times, and then realizing that i had it right from the start, this is a fun project.  this would be too large a scarf for me, but for a lap blanket or throw it is perfect.

coming up in knitting news…

i’m trying to use some self-control.  when the washcloths are finish (which should be tonight or tomorrow) i will then cast on for the Fiery Bolero cropped jacket that is featured in the IK summer issue.  the yarn that i will use for that project is Rowan Calmer in a natural cream shade. i look forward to this project.  i enjoy working with Rowan Calmer yarn and i think this will be a nice addition to my spring and summer wardrobe.

in reading new…

i’m 40 pages short of being finished with the Angry Housewives.  my book group meets this sunday night.  i will be finished by then.  actually, i hope to be done tomorrow.  the book is good, but i’m not loving it.  it could be because it is taking me forever to finish it or it could be because i went to the book store last week, to just look and buy nothing, and walked away with three, yes three books that look great.

mom’s day

yesterday was mother’s day and saturday was my birthday.  i’m used to getting a lot of mileage out of those two holidays as they are usually close together.  but not right next to each other.

it is interesting to watch time move on.

first, you are celebrating mom’s day just for your mom.  then you become a mom yourself and it takes on a whole new meaning and you share the day with your mom.

next,  you become a grandmom, as i did this year, and you share that day now with your mom and your daughter.

the circle of time.

 i love it.

headaches are a headache

i’ve had headaches all of my adult life.  i a met a few people in my lifetime that say they never “really” get headaches.  that seems unbelievable to me.

not that i don’t believe them, i just can’t imagine that.

for the past few months i have been getting more headaches.  sometimes during the day.  sometimes when i move around a lot. but mostly, and more strangely, when i am sleeping.

i went to the doctor and he has order an MRI, which i will have tomorrow.  never had one.  now i will know what everyone out there is talking about.

then in 2 and a half weeks, after i have more headaches from simply waiting, i will go to the nero doctor.

i’m a bit nervous, this does “weigh” on my mind, and it kind of gives me a headache to think about all that it may take to figure out why this it happening and how to treat it.
